Cats in Germany

Cats in Germany enjoying time with J.P.
Cats in Germany are popular pets and from what I have seen, cats in Germany are well cared for and loved. J.P. had never had cats before I moved my cats to Germany (Samui and Fuego) but I'm happy to report that the cats in Germany are doing exceptionally well.  J.P. is even indulging in some untypical German behaviour by saying "please" and "thank you" to the cats, i.e. "Samui, come inside please" or "Good boy, thank you" LOL! He used to tease me mercilessly for doing this and now he is doing the same thing -very untypical German behaviour. He also brought a grasshopper in for the cats to hunt since he thought they were “bored” and has been giving Fuego ten minute belly rubs. Yes, I would say the cats in Germany are doing just fine now that they have two people to spoil them instead of just me.

Lovely cats! Though I notice one of them is black, which in the old days used to be seen as unlucky in Germany. (Possibly a witchcraft-related thing?). I've had occasional odd comments from our neighbours about our black cats bringing ill luck... though nothing serious. I don't think anyone really believes that stuff any more.

Thanks, I think they're pretty cute too. Too funny about the black cat. I didn't realize that superstion was still around. It will be interesting to see whether my neighbors have similar comments.

What a great picture! I hope they're still settling in well. Tell J.P. not to worry about indulging cats--it happens to the best of us!

Aww, cute kitties! I'm moving to Germany in a couple of months with my German husband (I'm from the U.S.), and we'll be bring our FOUR kitties. I'm not sure how it was moving with cats from Canada, but here there is soooo much paperwork and certification to complete first (in addition to the shots and micro-chipping). Glad to see yours are doing well. I hope mine don't get too stressed out from the plane ride. o_O

Seh, I can only imagine the paperwork for FOUR cats. From Canada, there was a lot of paperwork as well. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours at the "Animal Lounge" at the airport and have some $$$ with you. We paid three different times for different things and it was over 200EU. Mine adjusted remarkably quickly, within 45 minutes they were purring and had the whole place checked out. Hope it goes well for you and that the kitties adjust nicely.
